Roller Compacted Concrete(RCC)

RCC is a zero slump concrete that is placed like asphalt.  RCC has the same basic ingredients as normal concrete, except RCC is a much drier mix.  For road construction the mix is placed through a conventional or a high-density paver and similar to asphalt, is then compacted with a vibratory roller.  The mix is so stiff that the vibratory roller can begin compacting immediately behind the paver.  RCC requires NO forms, finishing or steel reinforcing.  RCC can be placed and compacted in one lift, unlike asphalt which is a multi-lift operation.  RCC is also much stronger than asphalt and can be placed thinner to achieve the desired load carrying capability.  This labor and thickness reduction combined with the competitive initial material cost compared to asphalt makes RCC extremely cost effective.  RCC will not have any potholes, rutting, or shoving and can span soft localized soft subgrades.  Our mix design consistently breaks over 8,000 psi compressive strength and 800 – 900 psi flexural strength.  RCC will not deform under heavy concentrated loads and will not soften under high temperatures.  Builder’s offers a base mix which works great for base and binder asphalt replacement and can be surfaced with asphalt if desired.  We also offer a surface mix design which is made up of smaller aggregates for enhanced smoothness.

  •  Can Be Surfaced With Concrete or Asphalt or Diamond Ground to Improve Smoothness

  •  No Failures Like Rutting, Shoving and Potholes

  •  Allows for Design of a Thinner Pavement Section

  •  Provides Longer Pavement Life

  •  Open for Traffic the Next Day

  •  Can be Placed Late in Year

  •  Low Maintenance Costs

Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) is a high strength paving material. RCC is placed like asphalt and is stronger than conventional concrete. Additionally, RCC has a consistent and competitive price since all of its raw materials are locally manufactured. Builder's Concrete has been producing RCC in Central Indiana since 2008 and have successfully completed projects for public and private roads, parking lots, driveways and industrial facilities. Please contact Builder's Concrete at (317) 570-6201 for more information on RCC or to find a qualified contractor who can provide pricing on your next project!

Builder's Concrete and Supply Co., Inc. of Fishers, IN produced this 8,000 psi Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) mix. The RCC is being placed by Calumet Civil Contractors utilizing their High Density Paver.  The high density paver compacted the mix to 92% density before a roller was applied to achieve final compaction.  RCC is being used to replace the base and binder layers of asphalt for this residential subdivision in Fishers, IN.  An asphalt surface will be applied at a later date.

Builder's Concrete and Supply Co., Inc. of Fishers, IN produced this 9,000 psi Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) mix. The RCC is being placed by Delello and Sons Paving in Fishers, IN. Builder's Concrete has developed a finished surface RCC mix which is being used here. This is a durable pavement which will last well over 30 years and require no maintenance. Contact Builder's Concrete at (317) 570-6201 for more information!
